BIO 205: Microbiology
Prerequisite: BIO 181N with a grade of C or better; CHM 130N or CHM 151N recommended. Assessment at or completion of WRT 101.

Course Description: Fundamentals of microbiology with an overview of microorganisms and their relationship to health, ecology, and related fields. Topics include microbial cell structure and function, diversity of microorganisms, growth, metabolism, microbial genetics, disease mechanisms and immune response. It also includes an introduction to the principles of epidemiology and pathogenesis as well as a discussion of critical global and community public health issues.
