Description
GEO 270 – Remote Sensing
Prerequisites: The prerequisite for this course is successful completion of GEO 267 and CIS 100 (or equivalent), or instructor approval.
Credits: 3 cr. hrs. (4pds: 2 lec., 2 labs)
Course description; This course introduces students to the fundamental principles of remote sensing, with special attention to emerging platforms and technologies such as unmanned aerial systems (UAS). The focus of the course is to introduce students to the current body of knowledge in
remote sensing, and for students to gain introductory skills in working with remotely sensed data. Through hands-on lab exercises, students will learn how to use satellite and aerial imagery to monitor our environment. Common remote sensing platforms, sensors, imagery processing methods, and classification methods will also be explored.
Student learning outcomes for the course:
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
? Demonstrate an understanding of the physical
