HIS 102 Introduction to Western Civilization II
Prerequisites: None
3 cr. hrs. (3 pds: 3 lec.)

Note: REA 091 pre/co-requisite for receiving Gen. Ed. credit.
WRT 102 pre/co-requisite to fulfill AGEC (I).

History of the modern world dating from 1492 to contemporary times. The course analyzes: Religious Wars; the Industrial revolution; economies of scale; colonialism and post-colonialism; Enlightenment political theory, including that of the "Noble Savage"; the rise of republics and civil rights; paradigms of science and technology; ideologies of prejudice and genocide; and globalization. Special focus on the struggles of indigenous peoples in the Age of Empire.
