Course Description: This course surveys a variety of reading materials. Students will learn to locate explicit textual information, draw inferences, describe and evaluate the information within the across multiple texts of varying lengths. Students will learn how to use vocabulary effectively, describe and apply insights gained from reading and writing a variety of texts. Students will learn effective editing strategies, generate ideas from texts, and recognize and apply the conventions of Standard English. One requirement will be one-on-one tutoring with the TOCC Student Success Center on a biweekly basis to ensure the success of students. (Note: This course replaces WRT 070 and REA 081)
