AST 101N: Solar System

Addendum: 4/5/2021 Removal of the following pre-requisites for AST 101N bring AST 101N into alignment with our other 100 level AGEC Science courses and other similar astronomy courses offered at community colleges in Arizona. Prerequisites: MAT 089 or higher, and WRT 101 or higher, or permission of instructor

Credits: 4 cr. hrs. (6 pds: 3 lec, 3 lab)
Course Description: Introduction to the science of the nature and origin of the solar system, the sun and its family of planets, comets, and asteroids. Includes the history of astronomy and special topics regarding the space program. Scientific thinking as an application of critical thinking and science in
contrast to pseudoscience is also covered. Lecture and lab are integrated.
