The course introduces the science of human development from conception through adolescence, with an emphasis on elementary school-aged children, and reviews the major theories of child development espoused by theorists in?uencing the ?eld. The course examines the domains of human development, and provides an analysis of factors that a?ect human growth and development from conception through adolescence, including the role of genetics as well as health, family, environmental, experiential, and socio-cultural in?uences. The course also explores the role of parents and other adults in the lives of children. The course further provides an overview of public policy and contemporary issues impacting children, elementary education, and the ?eld of child development.
