EDU 220 Children’s Literature for Educators
This course focuses on the study of oral and written language acquisition, emergent literacy, and literature for children. The course teaches assessing typical language development, strategies for promoting children’s language development, creating language-rich environments, historical development of children’s literature, examines literary elements (characterization, plot, and style), exploring a broad spectrum of children’s literature, and strategies for involving families and community members. Students will also learn how to include literacy in other content areas of their teaching to create a literacy-rich environment.
